How can we help?

Answers to the common questions about steps, group treks, challenges and widgets. Can't find yours? Write to us — a person reads every message.

Getting started

  • Create an account with a username and password. Choose a companion.
  • Allow step access — Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android. Pagdandi only reads your steps and walking distance.
  • Pick a trail on the Trails tab and tap Start this trek. From then on, your daily steps move your companion along the route.
  • Open Home any time to see today's steps, your solo trek, your group treks and your challenges.

Steps and health

My steps aren't showing on iPhone

Open Pagdandi → Settings → Step source and allow access when Apple's sheet appears. If you turned it off earlier: open the Health app → your profile picture → Apps → Pagdandi, and turn on Steps and Walking + Running Distance. Then pull down on Home to refresh.

My steps aren't showing on Android

Pagdandi uses Health Connect. Open Pagdandi → Settings → Step source and allow Steps and Distance. If you declined, open the Health Connect app → App permissions → Pagdandi and turn them on. On Android 13 and earlier, install Health Connect from Google Play first. Your phone, watch or fitness app must also be writing steps to Health Connect.

Only the last 30 days of steps appear on Android

Health Connect shares only 30 days unless you also allow access to past data. Open Health Connect → App permissions → Pagdandi and turn it on, then refresh Home.

Pagdandi's kilometres differ from my Health app

Pagdandi uses the walking distance your phone records. On days with steps but no distance, it estimates distance from your steps and stride. Set your height in Settings → Your height to make that estimate fit you.

How often do steps update?

Whenever you open the app, come back to it, or pull down on Home — and in the background about every 30 minutes when your phone allows. Group treks and challenges sync every few hours in the background; tap Sync now to update them straight away.

What counts towards my streak?

Any day you walk at least your streak goal — 3,000 steps by default. Change it in Settings → Streak step goal.

WHOOP

How do I connect my WHOOP?

Open Settings → WHOOP → Connect, sign in on WHOOP's page and allow Pagdandi to read your cycles. Each day, Pagdandi then uses whichever counted more steps — your phone or your WHOOP — so steps taken with only one of them still count, and nothing counts twice.

Why is a WHOOP day a little different from my phone's day?

WHOOP measures days from when you fall asleep to when you next fall asleep, not midnight to midnight. Pagdandi files each WHOOP day under the day you were awake, so totals near midnight can differ slightly from other apps.

How do I disconnect WHOOP?

Settings → WHOOP → Disconnect. Pagdandi stops reading from WHOOP and asks WHOOP to revoke its access. Logging out also disconnects WHOOP on that phone.

Treks and trails

How do I switch to another trail?

Open the Trails tab, pick a trail and tap Start this trek. Pagdandi asks before switching, because your progress on the new trail starts from today. Badges you've earned stay.

Can I restart my trek?

Settings → Reset start date starts your current trail again from today.

How do I unlock more companions?

Laali and Shan are with you from the start. Mona, Chiku, Bhalu and Gaju unlock as your lifetime distance passes 100, 200, 300 and 400 km. Change companion in Settings → Change.

Saathi group treks

How do I start a group trek and invite people?

On the Saathi tab tap +, name the group and pick a trail. Then tap Invite a saathi and share the link or code — on WhatsApp, for example. Up to 5 people per group; you can be in up to 3 groups.

How do I join with a code?

Tap the invite link, or type the code in the box on the Saathi tab and tap Join group.

What do my group-mates see?

Your display name and companion. In the group's settings (the sliders button) you choose whether they also see your position on the trail, today's steps and your monthly totals. Your kilometres always count towards the group total.

Someone says "hasn't synced yet"

Their phone hasn't sent its steps recently. Ask them to open Pagdandi — it syncs when the app opens.

How do I leave, rename or delete a group?

Open the group's settings. Anyone can Leave. The group's owner can also rename it, remove members and Delete group. If the owner leaves, the person who joined next becomes owner; when the last person leaves, the group is deleted.

How do cheers work?

Once a day you can cheer one saathi — Pagdandi suggests whoever has walked least today. They get a notification if they've allowed notifications.

Step challenges

How do I start a challenge?

On the Challenges tab tap Start a challenge, name it and choose Today, This weekend, 7 days or 30 days. Share the code (it starts with "x"). Up to 20 people per challenge; you can be in up to 5 at once.

How is the winner decided?

Most steps between the start and end dates. If two people tie, whoever joined first ranks higher. Results appear the next time you open the Challenges tab after it ends, with a Rematch button.

Who sees my steps in a challenge?

Everyone in that challenge sees your daily step totals for its dates. Nothing else is shared.

How do I leave or delete a challenge?

Open the challenge → settings. Anyone can leave; the creator can also rename it, remove people and delete it.

Widgets and notifications

How do I add a widget on iPhone?

Touch and hold the Home Screen → Edit → Add Widget → search Pagdandi → pick Trek, Saathi Group or Step Challenge. For the Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen → Customise → Lock Screen → add a widget → Pagdandi.

How do I add a widget on Android?

Touch and hold the home screen → Widgets → search Pagdandi → drag Trek ring, Trek progress, Companion, Saathi group or Step challenge onto the screen.

My widget isn't updating

Open Pagdandi once — widgets update every time the app refreshes. Your phone decides how often widgets redraw in the background, so allow Background App Refresh (iPhone) and don't restrict Pagdandi's battery use (Android).

I'm not getting notifications

Check Settings → Landmark notifications in Pagdandi and allow notifications for Pagdandi in your phone's settings. Cheers need notifications allowed on the phone receiving them.

Your account

I forgot my password

Pagdandi accounts use a username, without an email address, so we can't send a reset link. Write to support@pagdandi.app from the phone you use, with your username, and we'll help you get back in.

How do I change the name others see?

Open any group's settings and edit Your name. It changes in all your groups and challenges.

How do I download my data?

Settings → Download my data saves a copy of your treks, badges, settings and daily totals as a file you can keep.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Delete account. This removes your account and server data — memberships, daily totals, cheers and any WHOOP link — and clears the app. It can't be undone. Groups and challenges you created pass to the next member. See our privacy policy.

Which languages does Pagdandi speak?

English, हिन्दी, বাংলা, मराठी and தமிழ். Change it in Settings → Language.
